Highlander Wheel Bearing Header

Replaced the wheel hub assembly and valve cover gaskets on the 2007 toyota highlander.

Notes:

  • Shop quoted $3500, parts were about $300.
  • The wheel bearing was broken, but after some research I decided to replace the entire wheel hub because its dramatically easier and I don’t have a press needed to remove / reinstall the bearing in the hub.
  • Thought it would take ~4 hours, but slowed down by stuck bolts (of course) and underestimated the difficulty in reaching the valve cover for the 3 cylinders which face the cabin. Needed to take off lots of parts related to the intake manifold, and a few difficult to access bolts (one bolt took me 45 minutes to remove!).

Car runs much smoother. Crossing my fingers for another 5 years.
